New life
starting afresh,
making good the demise of youth
and vigorous pursuits.
Feeding off what's left
from years of
wanton hedonism.

New being,
born from flesh
long beyond its best before date,
temporarily revived
by furtive breath
yet beyond the
immortal lies of yesterday.

New and old,
intertwined.
Life and death,
eternal companions.

Hi Bobo. 'Life and death,/eternal companions', reminds me that the surest thing in life is death.

I enjoyed this.

Hi Bobo, I like this, has kind of a universal feel about it and a tone of acceptance.

Hi Joanie, Walrus

Thanks for your comments. Not a well thought out piece as it was just a 5 minute morbid rant on Saturday morning after a restless night considering death (cheery cow that I am!). However, maybe simple and unconvoluted is okay too....? I may revisit it at some point and make amendments.

BoBo :)

Put me in mind of Beckett - 'born astride a grave...' Worth coming back to and tweaking, definitely.

Best,

Mike
