What happened to the winkle pickers fishnet stockings, cami knickers. Bras you stuffed with cotton wool to bring them to a point?
Back combed hair, beehive look bottle of plix for the extra touch paper nylon skirts soaked in sugar mum swearing cos ironing was a bugger.
Dressing up for the local hop rock-n-roll,be-bop quick snog down someones entry what happened to it all? Or did I just grow up.

Missed all that Alice. For me it was Suzy Quatro and The Bay City Roller - cropped off jeans and tartan and the youth club. Then on to Punk and New Romantic Frilly shirts. Bit puzzled by "A quick snog down someone's entry"? Is that their allyway/gate/path?

Another fine offering. You'll be hitting 10,000 points soon. Hope they sent you a badge.
So many questions.
What is plix?
Did the sugar stiffen like starch?
I also think I might have got entirely the wrong picture from
"quick snog down someones entry" [apostrophe?] but maybe that's my mind.
Permission to wander through your archived stuff again if I get the time.

Hi
Funny you should mention what happened to... fishnets! I was wearing a pair on saturday night! Fantastic party where we dressed up all "rock-n-roll", great music, great people... so let me asure you it's live and well and seems to reside in Shrewsbury! Sounds like you could teach me a thing or two about the outfits!! Back to the poem though! What a 'hop' down memory lane, not that I was there unfortunatly, wonderful poem... and don't even think about growing up... 'rock-n-roll' is in the soul.

Oh such memories - but of course I'm far too young to remember ALL of them...lol. Seriously though Alice, this just bounces along that you can't help getting hooked right from the start, although I wasn't too sure about the last line. It fits the meaning, but not the rhyme and rhythm - or maybe that was intended.

Nice one roovacrag, not one I can appreciate to the fullest, with not being there at that particular time, but it rings true with all the reminiscing me parents and relatives do. I like the 'quick snog down someones entry' line in particular, that I can appreciate. Nice works.
Thanks
Don
