Wonderfully romantic, Joanie - loved it. I'd get rid of that hyphen in the second line though. Not sure you need it, as I think it disturbs the flow.

Anne, I was including the hyphen as I thought (somewhere in the deepest recesses of my memory) that there had to be a break somehow in haiku at the end of the first or second lines..... I'll leave it out - I'm sure you're right.

Joanie - I think the rules for the Japanese official haiku are indeed very strict, but for the anglicised version because of the whole translation thing you can be more liberal. I don't want to be prescriptive though!! (but I do like it without the hyphen as now!!)
