meeting with resilience
a bending willows tendrils
try to coax surrender
to the green

I try in the same way
to bend convention
to loosen the rules
and yield to my heart


but at every tug and tease
the solid thoughts
defeat my freedom
and leave that
inevitable urge to please

Yes, wouldn't it be great if we could all be willows in the wind ... rooted but flexible

…not ridged old sticks-in-the-mud, fragile and breakable and taken along by the current of the river or the tides of the sea and dumped like flotsam.
