Future Tense

some times pass
others are sticky,

they catch their ride
on the heart's ache,

a sweet war child
a napalm jelly baby
sucked on by life,

some times escape
others are captured,

inside the network
working within us,

crossed fuse wires burn
the oily waters of blood
black and blue at peace,

some times are in waiting
up ahead around the bend,

future cutting me off at the pass
refusing to be kissed on the lips,

as for now the tongue
rolls in the cheek,

tasting the blood
of my own bite.

Loved this - it resonated with huge themes of war and relationships and plans etc. A particularly powerful ending gave me a big punch to ponder on.

Should it be "heart's ache"????

LoL

Hi

I found this interesting to read and it's left me wondering - more so about life and how we come to pass!

regards,
Lottie :-)

Whereas a lot of poetry can have a sterile, detached feel to it, this has a certain grittiness as though looking into the mechanics of the theme. In particular
crossed fuse wires burn
the oily waters of blood
black and blue at peace

nice,

Anthony
