Running round like a grey arse fly,
christmas cards,presents,huh a surprise.
Glad it comes just once a year
otherwise be pissed I fear.

Kids running ragged
parents tempers in a tether
not sure I want it
in too much of a lather.

Trimmings up ooooo what fun
food shopping still not done
grab a turkey,stuffing as well
John's a veggie,bloody hell.

Grab a few drinks to calm the family
good job a lot too old to comply
funny hats,noses as well
pull a cracker,or just ring a bell.

Glad when it's over, pour me another
what with the whiskey and brandy butter,
feel a little queazy
life is not easy.

Might as well get pissed dinners over,
please go home so I can sleep
see you in the new year
for another Christmas chear

A laugh a minute - but oh so true. Actually, I've never heard of the grey arsed fly, only the blue arsed variety found around where I live. Not sure whether you intended the 'ooooo what fun' to be sarcastic, I certainly read it that way. I really liked the panic in 'John's a veggie, bloody hell' Haven't we all been there, and you have captured it perfectly Alice.

Kathleen, not sure where the blue or green arsed fly comes from.
When it gets to Christmas its usual.

As always who is going where and are you coming.

I should write a verse on this, relatives always turn up and in our family
several are in the nineties.

Must have put too much bromide in the food when they was in the army in the 40's.

xx Alice
