i think all we can do is wait for love to fall into our hands, then it's up to us to try and decide if it's the kind we want to catch or not,
mind you those daft rosie coloured glasses don't help, must remember to throw mine in the bin,
but after reading the first two verses, i think i'd be running a mile from this one,lol
nice piece Alice, simple words, simple layout, and a little thought provoking, good way to start the day,
all the best,
youngskywalker.

Youngs ..love never falls into hands.
It's a feeling,wanting,needing the person you want.
Love draws you together even though you think you are not ready.
You think, dream and actually think of making love to that person.
Wow,such passion.
Something you have never had and may never will.
It is beautiful, if you can capture it.

Thoughts: Is climbing mountains and swimming in the deep blue synonymous with cold and calculating? And who doesn't want someone that will go to the ends of the earth in the name of love? 'stable long and true and warm?' - fine - but surely there has to be something more than that? Better the love you know? Sounds like better the devil you know to me. Forever is a long time. Why ask how long it's going to last anyway. If you're asking, then surely you have your answer.

hi alice,
so i take it you've never had the bolt of lightning then and instantly known that there was someone in the world you would gladly walk through fire for without any question,
because i can assure you that i have known that feeling,
and i've also known the feeling that starts from the wanting, and i would gladly take the lightning anytime.
so please don't make any judgements on my life,
thank you,
youngskywalker.
<Added>
and by the way,
the only bit i really would have been running away from is "cold and calulating".

Young .I would have walked through the fires of hell for the man I loved and still do.
I kissed his dead body with tears flowing down my skin.
That my friend is love in the deepest sense.
No one loves as I do. I give my heart which is now broken, soul which is nothing,
life which is meaningless.
I will never love again.

roovacrag, I don't know how many times I've typed this recently, but I don't usually like love poems, but your poem is so simple and honest and the last line is quality for me. A piece of string springs to mind. Bloody love, it never goes away and is a right pain in the proverbials too! Nevertheless, a lovely poem.
Thanks
Don

but what are mountains for if there are not to climb in the name of love?!! i would bet that if you were to ask any one who has climbed Everest what it was that drove them i am sure the word "love" would make an appearence in their answer-whether that be love for another person is a different question alltogether but by its very nature love obliterates all identity...but back to the point!
a few questions for me arise after reading your poem...
why is it "calculating" to ask someone to climb a mountain?
can love last forever? and why should love only be "true" if it does last forever?
"Long and true and warm"...for me love is explosive, it's pasion is obliterating and yet at the same time indescribably tender, love is understanding and respect as well as allowing the person you love to have the freedom to just be -and isn't that a magnificent fact of life that for every human love means different thins, so thank-you for this poem because it ripped open my heart and made me realise what love means to me-ultimately something i shall never "know" and be able to define succiently and nor do i desire to
a personal piece that goes straight to the heart

alice i just read your comments that you will never love again-no! no! no! read the walrus's poem-we don't know about the future, we can't comprehend what life holds for us-whether that be because everythiing is a series of meaningless events or because of fate/karma/destiny-whatever word you wish to use
from the bottom of my heart i honestly wish that you do not say that to yourself, i have lost a man i loved worshipped and adored -love is not exclusive for one person, if you choose to live a life devoid of love and meaning that is what will happen-you write tender poetry and i am sorry to go on but it makes me desolate to read what you wrote and so i splatter these words with bounteous amounts of love and hope you let love find you again

Laura thanks for comments.
Love is many things.
True love is a one love, only ever one.
I would never love in the passion I had and find it again. You cannot find true love twice.
The second would have to take second place,be second best and thats not fair.
Grand passion is everything.....love,laugh, be as one.
Make love with abandon that would shock the world.
When you love,thats what happens.
Hope you will find it one day,I did.
xx Alice
