That is indeed the question,
which I've pondered hard and long;
I'd always written verses
which had gaily danced along,

until one day I stumbled,
in my surfing on the net,
upon a site called 'Writewords',
and I broke out in a sweat,

because pretty soon I re-
alised that rhyming wasn't 'in',
so I re-assessed my writing
style and took it on the chin.

Today, a few months older,
with maturity to spare,
I boldly post my poems,
and whether they rhyme or not,
I really don't care, because,
now I know that there is

a

place for

all kinds

of poetry.

Thanks, WW

Joan glad you said the words.
I said where was WW when I needed you most.

Great poem..
WW means we can say what is in the head and nothing more is said,as we do our own thing.

A way to express our heartfelt feelings.

Thats why WW put everything into helping people who would never have done it on thier own.

Take my hat off to the few staff who had a dream, that is now working.

Delightful (patronising modifierage)! No, I get what cha mean, and it's really nice, this place is like, a microcosm of what the world should be like! Except, it'd be in real time and less of the members'd write poetry. Actually, one problem I thought I would have was the ole comparing y'self to others thing- 'ohh, I'm not putting that up, it isn't as good as Joanie's last one' and so on, but whether through pig-headedness or just down to the pleasantness of WW, I never seem to mind, and my confidence as a writer has grown too!

What Wonders!

As I have a preference for rhyming poetry -out of fashion or not, it's nice to see so many others doing the same. Enjoyed this little bit of frivolity Joan, especially the (non rhyming) end.

Too funny, Joanie! Just what I needed to hear.

I have decided that I must be missing out. The next poem I upload absolutely MUST rhyme!

I shall wrap the voice of my MA poetry instructor in a very tight sheet of cling wrap, then twist it in silver foil and deposit in the freezer until my rhyming poem is written and posted at WW.

Only later, shall I take it out the freezer and defrost the injunctions to avoid rhyming poetry like the plague. On second thoughts, maybe I shall leave that annoying voice in the freezer for a bit longer.

like poemsgalore, i do prefer rhyming poetry,
i sometimes seem to struggle to find a rhythm with other kinds of poems,
this i really liked, and the way the ending turned into a meaningful statement just seemed to finish it all off nicely,
all the best,
bryan.

Funny, almost affectionate poem. Personally speaking I like poems that don't rhyme. Although I do think it's difficult to rhyme well, err, and if this is achieved, I think it does work.

This is another one I appear to have missed last night! A tricky question, eh joanie? I love rhyming, as people will probably have gathered by now, and I prefer to call my 'poems', rhymes. I must admit too, I never knew that 'rhyming wasn't in', ever, anyone who says different, send them round to me yard and we'll reason on the matter.

I suppose it all depends on what comes 'natural' to you. I never sit down to write in a particular style, I just let it flow, let it flow, let it flow! The results of which either rhyme or don't rhyme and I don't care which!

This is another great fun piece joanie and you hit the nail on the head at the end of your poem,

'whether they rhyme or not,
I really don't care, because,
now I know that there is

a

place for

all kinds

of poetry.

Thanks, WW'

fo' shizzle baby!

Thanks

Don

Don, please let me join you in your yard and we'll take on the "if it rhymes it's rubbish" lot together!!

'Let it flow' is absolutely right!
