Santa please,
say to god,
help me.

On my own no food or warmth,
scrounging round the floor
all crumbs have gone
eaten them every one.

Mum and dad gone on a binge
all alone, no light,or anything.
Know when they return, if all is not happy,
all I got is a wet nappy.

They will shout and swear
that I can't bare
cos I know I will get beat.

They said I fell from my high chair,
never said they kicked it there,
how can I tell them
can hardley speak.

If this goes on I will barely see
too much punching
I'm not a bag
just a child, too young to answer back

Alice, this is so sad, how can anyone ignore it, or the children. Very heartfelt, your compassion shows in every word. The next to last line "I'm not a bag" speaks volumes and I don't think the following line is needed.

Hey Alice, great piece- strong and bravely dealt with. And well written so it isn't embarassing and awkward AKA Busted trying to sound like they're not in Band Aid for publicity's sake on Breakfast this morning. It's really powerful, which is why I was kinda put off by the 'poo' bit. I guess it's a graphic piece and pulls no punches, but I felt 'poo' is now too childishly used (I know it's a baby writing, but still), I kinda thought it knocked askew the force of it all. Maybe 'all I got is a full nappy'? That was jus' a humble thought! Thanks for sharing though, it's too important a message to ignore.

Bye!

James
