China Mary

The china Mary
cloaks her eyes,
a blue slip-ware
gown on a wrap
of white clay,
earth's skin born
millions of eons
before her son
hung from his
modelling tree,
the womb's fruit
unpicked clean
by the clergy of
preying crows.

John

This is an exquisite piece, so concise and neatly styled yet brimming over with meaning.
A beautiful poem.

John, I love that line "the clergy of preying crows' - so descriptive.

Concise yet dense wih imagery and meaning, with a healthy frisson of ambiguity. Lovely.

Best,

Mike
