Ruby red
is the colour of my love
darker than blood
it blends sublime
unravelling welcomley
the furious workings
of my mind.

Full bodied
is the shape of my muse
free from the constricting
bodice of sobriety
breasts swaying gaily
gently mesmorising
the blues.

Elemental is the nature of my desire
indisputable, its enchanting effect
a blissful remedy to fracious enemies,
the hypocrites,
leaving a soul unrestrained
- free to breathe.

Just enough, not too much
to unshroud the hidden stairway
to the candle-lit den
of nightime insanity
free from daytime chains
of moral probity.

Just enough, not too much
to transport upon a halcyon breeze
to land bemused
in time-warped twilight refuge.

Ruby red
is the colour of my love.

This is a fantastic poem, full of sumptuous imagery, richness, texture and some amazing ideas. I like the poem so very much and every line, every stanza worked so very well. In particular I thought these were brilliant:

"it blends sublime"

"bodice of sobriety"

"unshroud the hidden stairway"

"transport upon a halcyon breeze"

But really I could list your whole poem! I don't mind to sound so damn creepy, I just really like the way you write!

Red
, Nothing like a glass of vino.
Nice and soft and not as strong as tennants as you know.

Full bodied and true to form.
Better to stick to a glass or2.no more than 5.
Otherwise you will be alone and lonely.
Drink is a comfort but not a substitute for love.

Cheers love as I pour a glass of wine.

I want you to find love ,not be old with a glass of wine.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Red mum.

This is fantastic - delicious imagery that makes me want to have a glass or two right now.

RM, Mooncat, thanks very much - glad you enjoyed it. Surprising how writing flows better with a glass of wine next to your laptop!

Cheers

The Walrus,

This is a wonderful tribute to wine, but at the moment I'm not drinking it because I discovered that it might not be good for me! .......and it's Friday night, and I WANT A GLASS OF WINE!!

Maybe I'll read your poem again and it might have the desired effect.

oh dear, my recent postings give the impression that I've had too much! It's this stupid over-sensitive touch pad - it has a mind of its own.

Hi Joanie, thank you for your comment. Hope your abstinence is temporary. I share touch pad problems.

Thanks again

I can fully appreciate this poem (substituting the wine for Guinness and dark rum), having just returned from a two day 'bender'. I particularly liked the word 'welcomley', what a lovely word, it is intoxicating work Walrus!

Thanks

Don

Nothing like letting your hair down .I agree with chem so many good descriptions so witty it really puts a picture in your mind about it.

Thanks Patrick, yes letting hair down would be a pretty fair description of the inspiration behind this piece.

Thanks Don, ummm, is that Guiness and dark rum as in together in one glass???

Hope you're fully recovered and thanks for the comment.
