How are you, dear?

Hello! It's me! I thought I'd call.
Are you doing anything at all?
I'm in a rush, but after all..
I thought you'd like a chat.
Won't keep you long – I'll just be brief.
My problems are beyond belief!
My daughter’s causing me some grief
but I'd rather not discuss it.
Well, I said to her, I said,
"I'm not surprised you married Ted,
but you should have chosen Chris instead."
But nobody can tell her
My chest's not good – you hear me wheeze?
I'm having trouble with my knees.
'A touch of arthritis', if you please,
and he calls himself a doctor!
I think I need a break away;
it's hard to live from day to day
with all the mounting bills to pay.
I wonder where it ends!
They tell me my cholesterol's high.
I'll cut out fat – at least, I'll try.
I'm struggling – I don't know why,
it all sounds quite straightforward.
I waited ages for a bus
Today; it rained; I made a fuss,
of course I did – they can’t blame us –
they just can't be relied on.
I would have telephoned before
But Margaret rang at five to four.
She rabbits on, she's such a bore.
I couldn’t get away!
I told her straight about the verse
In Proverbs – you could hear her curse! –
"Speak rashly, and you'll come off worse."
She wasn't very pleased!!
So, anyway, are you quite well?
I heard you'd had a troubled spell.
So, how are things? Hello?? Well.. well..
she's only put the phone down!
