Not hard
Just jagged around the edges
Shards of glass on the inside,
Piercing my skin.

Your eyes reflect mine
Something of yourself left behind,
Causing suffering,
The sting of a bee.

Your kick in my guts
Makes me double over
But then smile
At a private joke
Made public.

Eyes that steal me from myself
Defying resistance,
Then returning me
To reality cleansed.

Andy.its called being in love.
Hurts like the stabbing in your heart and you think you will die.
Then its warm and leaves you feeling all aglow with a passion you never thought you had. So you go back for more.

xx Alice

Andy - heart-wrenching words, overflowing with pleasure and pain - though I hope reflect more pleasure than pain. Sharing yourself, the bad and the good, with another is the greatest risk anyone can take.

This is my attempt at a happy poem - not sure it's my forté ;)

But then pain and pleasure has always been separated by a thin line for me...

Anyway thank you both for the comments.

I liked this - great choice of words to describe being in love.

Yes, love is both pleasure and pain.

Hi,

Liked this one. Had the human element that made it quite touching to read.

Really liked: - "Defying resistance". Which is a great turn of words.

Last line ends it well.
