River of tears – a poem

When you were a part of me
Tears of happiness fell from my eyes
As I saw you grow within me
Tears of joy would leap out sometimes
When you finally arrived into this world
Tears of relief and gladness was all around

Day by day
You grew into full youth
Adventure and patriotism took you far away
You fought with all your might
To rid the evil tyrants
Who made the weak and innocent suffer
You were on earth for a purpose
To restore peace and happiness to all

Along the rivers of blood
You drowned in a struggle
Now there are not enough words
To reimburse your sacrifice
Only the river of tears remain

It could have been corny, it could have been brainwashage or it could have been just plain ole bad. Fortunately, it's none of those things, but a fitting epitaph. Regardless of a wars justification, the dead shouldn't just fall by the wayside. There's the reassuring balance of life with death (and the battle in both 'When you finally arrived into this world...'?), otherwise, one might find it slightly morbid. I thought the use of the word 'reimburse' was odd (but not odd meaning bad), the idea of a transaction, and words being the currency. I'll say no more, as I can't sustain the integrity of any line of thought.

Bye!
