As boyhood stumbles to manhood
As questions stagger to how
The role of our own little quest
Is rolled into here and now
The fumble and grope of the past
To a touch, delicate and fine
Takes us all off in a direction
As we walk the amorous line
Imagine what we thought we’d be doing
As we bashed a ball against wall
Arched back, sweat and lust loathing
Bulbous rise precedes flaccid fall
In those days when a boy was a boy
And the only desire independence to think
I never imagined I would get so much pleasure
From these days of kissing the pink.

Paul, interesting contrasts here... Delicate love, sweaty lust... and 'walk the amorous line' almost sounds a little like the kind of thing a troubadour aspire too (!): only I definitely don't find this a chivalrous poem... 'kissing the pink' kind of sounds euphemistic, bit like 'tipping the velvet'... and euphemisms, well, they link to taboos. Write on, Miffle

'troubadour might aspire too'...

... also a sense of nostalgia for the uncomplicated experience of youth. Question: but when you were a boy did you actually experience your life as uncomplicated? Or is it just with adult vision that you deem it so?

Miffle Hi.

Thanks for the comments. I guess maybe not uncomplicated just a lot less than adult life. It's more about the innocence of youth. Kissing girls "Urrrghh"

Paul, OK! So now I'm thinking more along the lines of 'you're a pink toothbrush / I'm a blue toothbrush'... ;-) Miffle NB Kissing boys - not so bad ;-)

Aaah, I had been waiting for you to post this. 'Kissing the pink' conjures up different lips, olfactory senses springing alive, as well as taste, texture, etc. As one travels from boyhood to manhood, you discover LadyLand, a world to get forever lost in....

Woz

This made me laugh, in a refreshing kind of way - they say girls are romantic - you have restored my faith! A delightful, playful and brave boy/man piece.

Dare I say it? Write on!!!
