Where is the airy mountain?
Is there a rushy glen?
Not going into the woods today
with all those little men.

Met Georgy Porgy,
kissed me once again.
I didn't cry like the other girls,
smacked him one instead.

Contrary Mary sitting there
a spider just above.
She got a tin of fly spray
and squirted him with love.

Jack and Jill came down the hill
feeling very frisky.
Bucket with no water in,
we know what they did was risky.

I loved this Al, imagery like colourful nursery rhymes knocked sideways with a dose of reality, perfectly portrayed in this piece. Excellent stuff! Ling Ling x

Al

An adult retelling of nursery rhymes with a contemporary twist. Enjoyed it.

Hi Al,

I loved this. When I began reading it I thought it was going to be a nice poem about nature, but then it totally threw me. A nice twist.

Well done,
Marie

Alice, well, I think the girls have the last laugh here! Good for them! Write on, Nikki :-)

Like the idea of the nursery characters getting a new script! It's about time too, don't you think !? Makes them fresh and alive.

Thank you all for your comments. Thought it would make a change to twist nursery rhymes around.

I loved this Alice, very satirical yet at the same time traditional.

Alice,

Loved this, especially about Georgy Porgy – classic.

Nursery rhymes for the twenty-first century.

Great stuff,

Dawn, :)
