Loving parents of an Audiville man who may have only 35 years to live have launched a public appeal to buy him an Audi TT. Forty-one-year-old Dave Spunt, known as Dave, was born with Fiscal Atrophy. Doctors have warned he may never own a fast car, have a decent holiday or wear Lacoste. Privately, specialists fear the crippling disease may mean he has to work for a further 24 years.

However, he is as bright as a button, with a reading age of 38. Dave's parents want their son to have as much independence as possible in his remaining years. “That’s why we want the TT. Dave has limited social skills and verbal reasoning, but he has indicated, through simple body language, that he would prefer the premium package with the heated seats and lights, the CD-based navigation system and the Bose ICE pack,” said his mum.

Family and friends have already started to rally round to help raise the necessary on-the-road price of £28,000.

Help make a wish come true
An Audi TT may be out of your reach, but you can pledge money to the Royal Bank of Scotland today. Just £25 would buy a night out at Pizza Hut; £50 would get Dave some much-needed straight-leg, boot-cut Kirano jeans, while £1,000 will buy the little charmer a Denon AVF 100/S home cinema.

Nice one Audiman! I shall show this to my TT-owning friend. By the way, they are much cheaper in das Vaterland...

'Underprivileged' indeed! Like the concept of this. Inspired in me both laughter and loathing rated: Extra Strong.

Love the rhythm of 'through simple body language' and the detail of 'reading age 38'. Yes, this sort of man/ boy needs humouring!

Like the way that this piece throws into debate definitions of 'wish' and 'need' and 'dream'...

Does charity start at home when you don't have an Audi TT ?! And who exactly are the muppets who are going to fall for this!?

Clever stuff, Miffle
