Where have all the children gone? Some are living, some in hell, lost. Scramble to exist.
Nothing for them it's all wars. Wish we could rescue let them reach for the stars.
Give them a gun, no education, seven years old and fighting.
They know not what they do, know not where to go, dull eyed kids, dead before they are born.
LOST,ALONE,UNLOVED.

Yes, Alice, it's tragic isn't it? No words go far enough really but you've expressed it well.

Hi Alice, a very haunting poem. I thought perhaps, "things to come", but no, they're already here with their dull glazed eyes.

Alice, I wonder whether you too were watching 'The Children of Gaza' last night (?). I wish I had recorded it - it was an incredibly brave and resonant film. Well said, Miffle

Thanks for comment.
Steven,
Yes haunting, but kids at war are haunting. They are lost and alone and crying.

To have one's childhood ended prematurely is a crime. To never reach adulthood is a crime. Our world is full of crimes against ourselves and others. We (humanity) lost our innocence a long time ago. I could bloody weep.
Good piece Stan.

Hi Alice,
Very moving. Makes you think and question human nature.
'Dull eyed kids' - a haunting image.
Well done.

Hi roovacrag
I did not see children of gaza, I expect they will not show that documentary in the USA. I did read an article recently on the young boys and their weapons in Africa, relating their slang phrases for cutting off the hands or arms of people.
A haunting piece. And so it has been for it seems ever, children always suffer the mistakes of their parents (who themselves are really children).
