The sadness of sadness

When it rears itself upon a soul
It lays around and hides it's face
Tears and sorrow are its toll
It has no care for time or place

An unwanted reminder of an unwanted loss
It fuels its stay at sorrows cost
When laughter attempts to override
It refuses to have it by its side

Then comes the day it decides to leave
It smiles at you and rolls on by
The time has come for others to grieve
The departing of grief is when you die

Welcome to ww.
Yes it is a sad time and you will always remember the good times.
Beautiful poem. Must have been hard to write, especially with tears in your eyes.

Each stanza was good and flowed very well.
Keep writing.
xx Alice

Many thanks. Sad yes but all part of life's rich tapestry.

Hello Paul, and welcome to WriteWords. You've expressed those feelings so well, and in a timeless sort of way, a way that speaks poignantly to the reader. The following line reminded me of those profound thoughts one sometimes finds in the work of the great poets of yesterday: It fuels its stay at sorrow's cost...
Good work, look forward to more.

Nell.
