Puppet
I was the puppet
pulling my string,
doing the doing
before it did me.
Our love was a slick rope trick
that my spell conjured too quick
before my soul found it's science
myself holding a mirror to my head
magic demanding itself be released.
I was on a journey in blue
arriving just as the late me
stepped from the tragedy,
my body crashing live on stage
all the way from a gang killing
playing somewhere near you.
I was the puppet
pulling my string,
doing the doing
before it did me.
