Just a lazy, bee-buzzing, lawn-mowing, car-washing, bird-singing, sheet-flapping, wine-drinking, limb-burning, steak-grilling, hammock-swinging, paper-reading, breeze-blowing, sun-shining, seed-drifting, plane-circling, glass-chinking, cat-napping, poem-writing, peaceful Sunday afternoon.

Joanie, it was a lovely Sunday! Strangely though the poem left me with the feeling that you'd been busy - was that the repetition of all those 'ing' sounds or the inclusion of the car-washing and lawn-mowing? Like the echoes of sound and image that run throughout: lazy/buzzing; singing/drinking; burning/grilling; drifting/circling - each seeming to refer to the other, as if the bees were lazy, the birds drunk, you were grilled and the plane was a sort of seed. Nice one, write on,
Nell.

See what Nell means about you sounding busy - with the 'ing' words - wonderered whether that was intentional - contrasting as they do with the last three words? Anyway, sounds like a perfect Sunday! Well captured.

Thanks, Nell and The Walrus. Yes, I think I was listening to the buzzing first, then became aware of all the other things. I was working, actually, in the shade of the apple tree, with bits of blossom dropping onto the keyboard of my laptop, when I thought, "This is ridiculous - I should be writing something instead of working!" It was very peaceful, actually.
Thanks for your responses.
