Buddha made of skin

Buddha made of skin
sat beneath the tree,
his landscape inside
prayer map unrolled.

Compass eyes turn
towards the heart,
fingers touch earth
soil hot under hands.

Silence opens space
his mind on voyage,
as bodhi bowers shake
leaf falls on pilgrimage.

John G., you keep 'coming on strong', as they say. This time, I loved in particular "as bodhi bowers shake / leaf falls of pilgrimage" -- but, as always, the entire piece was a finely crafted work. Nice addition to the series!

I love the use of inner and outer landscapes in this and the way they turn and twist as the poem progresses. It's also got a very exotic feel, which fits well with the buddha image.

I must admit ignorance in knowing what bodhi bowers are though!!
