What is a friend
one you trust
they listen,while you talk.
Hours and hours
you talk away
they listen
Silently.

Advice is given
not accepted
still they listen
all mixed up
rant and rave
still they listen
Silently.

They feel your pain
conceive your message
crying silently
still they remain
your friend
one that loves you
silently.

What more do you want
what more do you need
they will always be there
endlessly to listen
Silently

All is wanted
what is best
Up to you to do the rest
A friend for life
thats what you have
Silently.

Alice, so true, so lucky if you have a friend like that. Lovely words, with the quiet 'silently' at the end of each verse a powerful presence.

Al, I loved this piece especially, it said it all to me. True friendship will always prevail, no matter what you really think or feel, because with real friendship comes acceptance. Write on!
