Being Old

her eyes
cannot find
herself,

her place
is missing
her visit,

her touch
feels nothing
but space,

her thought
is losing
all finds,

her safety
the love net
of family,

her fear
not caught
anymore,

her life
is a journey
of trips,

being old
the feeling
in the falls.

I really like this, John. Touching, emotive -- particularly "being old / the feeling / in the fall" and "her place / is missing / her visit" are striking stanzas.

Wonderful stuff,

Smith

John - This is mournful and wonderful.
I have not been around WW long enough to get a feel for your stuff really but this I like a lot.
How uncomplicated - to be growing old, how entirely natural, and yet..
I love writing that captures the this "and yet" and your poem does just that.
I envy your ability to step back and not to overstate - I am a bit physical and not so subtle that I could write like this.
