Two forbidden lovers
walking along the shore.
Brown to brown -
Doe and Stag.

So much in love
no need to ask.

Touching him like so
stroking his arm.
He trembles -
feelings stirred
in his groin.

I wonder...
How long
will it last?

Will she become
a distant memory
in his past?

No,
to the future
I look.

With a little guidance,
together,
they'll write
their own book.

A couple, once more.

I really enjoyed the poem, I will be reading more of your work with interest. Why are they forbidden lovers?

Two people in love are forbidden to some, not to me as it is real.
A true love.
One no one can break.

I get the impression (probably wrong) that this is about prejudice, and that's why the lovers are forbidden. I like the idea of them writing their own book, a nice way of putting it Alice.

Stonking poem Stan. Observational, insightful, but your poetry has never struck me as mincing words.

'Brown to brown
Doe and stag'

Wonderful, perfect.

Agree with Poemsgalore, 'writing their own book', is indeed 'a nice way of putting it'.

Alice, an apt poem for two literary minds. The only word I would query here would be 'groin' - for me, it sort of broke the 'True Love' spell (!?). Seemed a baser register of speech than the rest (!?). Perhaps, I am just a Miffle-hearted romantic. Nikki ;-)

Excellent poem, fell off my chair. Incredibly well-informed references to the two protagonists.

A great poem, Alice. Loved the brevity of the last line, works well separated like that.
