We are all off
to the Doncaster races
watch all the horses
go through their paces.

All is alive,
all is well
see all the bookies
in for the kill.

Stalls all ready
fun day out,
musical fruits
vendor shouts.

Doncaster butterscotch
real yummy
candy floss down
in the tummy.

Lovely day very sunny
vendors cries are really funny.
"musical fruits, musical fruits
more you eat the more you toot."

Kids all laugh
change the words.
"Musical fruits off the cart
more you eat more you fart."

"Cheeky buggers,on your way"
Day at the races
wonderful day.

A lovely sing-song lyric. Now each time I break wind, I will think of Doncaster Races. Thanks.

Exuberant poem. Pacey at first - reminding me of the horses chomping at the bit. Cheeky voices - all springing to life. Roll on summer. Good one, miffle

This is a great light hearted poem, Alice. It conveys well the fun of the day. Liked the last verse!

You can hear the horses thundering down the track echoing through this Alice. Very funny words too - Is this what the song "Don't mess with my toot toot" means I wonder?

What it is it about this time of year that makes people write about summer;alright you don`t have to answer that.Oh didn`t we have a lovely time;being a southerner its the derby for oh the hallowed turf .Nicely written effortless to read.
