I didn’t feel the cold inertia
Of the pebble nestling
Comfortably in my hand,
I only felt the sensual smoothness
Of its solid perfection.

I didn’t feel the merciless edge
Of the frenzied breeze
Buffeting my hair
I only felt its cathartic ruffling
Welcome fresh.

I didn’t hear the brazen fox
Its tenacious tread
I only saw him
Saunter
Undaunted
Into my seascape
His fear discarded
In another time
Another place
Far away from here.

I held his nonchalant gaze a while
Before reaching out
With steady hand
To dip my fingers
Into the riotous red
Of another
Decadent sunset.

Well... I can't think of anything to say, other than, this is beautiful.

Perhaps I could write down all the lines I like. Though that would mean coying out the entire poem.

Another great, masterpiece of a poem to add to the canon of Walrus. Lucky is WM.

Funny, in that the day after reading this poem, a fox crossed my path as I drove down the hill. Yes, a fearless fox. May he remain forever elusive.

I loved this but have to admit thatI am not sure aboutthe last line of the first verse it seemed to disrupt the comfortable sensuality that the previous lines had built up but can't think of anything you could put in its place.

still good stuff

take care

Absolute perfection, smooth and round like the pebble.

Alice, thanks. The fox? Good question. An alter ego, a guardian angel? Who knows. Don't honestly know, he just emerged.

Iggy, what can I say, but thanks for your far too generous comments. Appreciated.

Fearless, your unwavering faith is quite something. x

David, I'm intrigued. How does 'solid smoothness' jarr(sp?) with the comfortable sensuality of what goes before? I am perplexed. Would appreciate further explanation if you have time.

Poemsgalore. I am very pleased you liked it.

Painting pictures with words... hmmmm.... this poem did feel very visual to me - I could see the image very clearly in my mind's eye. Feel very pleased to have received such a kind and pertinent comment.

Thanks
