When The Clocks Change

by Jojovits1

Word Count: 58
Summary: Strange times. I read about a fairy ring tonight. Apparently all who dance within a fairy ring, under a new moon can be lost in time and place...never to return. Feels a bit like that right now.

Spring forward
fall back.

Hidden shoots
peek out.
Smiling faces
towards a
bashful sun.

Faerie rings
illuminated
by the
new moon
beckoning all
to the enchanted
spring ball.

But where have
the dancers
gone?

Social distancing
with nature.
Lost to time
and place.
Never to
return?

Spring forward.

I mouth
the phrase
turn the
clock hands
and pray.

I love the first couplet. Perfect! There's nature and the supernatural here and the strange world of missing dancers and lost time. It's a real mix of fate and faerie and faith, like the world has turned strange -- which is exactly the right tone to hit now. I loved the repetition of

Spring forward.

Like we all want to take action -- wishing there was something we could do to hasten this bad time along.

An excellent response.

like this poem, Jo-Ann. It's upbeat and uplifting and thank you for not even naming the elephant in everybody's room at the moment but hinting at it instead with Social distancing... I'll read this again when the clocks go forward on March 29th.
Thank you.

I think you should put this one up in FB this weekend and I can share it in a few sites like Friends who like the Linnet's wings for you. It's a good poem and 'timely'. I can vouch that you wrote it so no danger in sharing it and it kinda has a use by date laugh
