The Wizard

Word Count: 41
Summary: I only remembered this a short while ago. When I was very little, my brother used to tell me that he knew a wizard and that one day he would take me to him. I must have been about seven and he would have been sixteen. Amazing what you'll tell kids to get them to behave!

My brother had
a Wizard
as a friend,
he said.

We’d explore
for gifts of
Batteries, books,
belts, bongs.
I remember
an owl that glowed
in the dark.

One day I
could meet
the Wizard,
he said.

If I was good.

I like that. I think the repetition of 'he said' works well and the innocence of

I remember
an owl that glowed
in the dark.

because I know...childhood memories are not always clear...or even real!

I had brothers and sisters over 15 yrs older than me and they would play us little-uns a merry dance!

Love this, Jo. What a great memory. A secret wizard. I bet that kept you endlessly enternained and stirred up your imagination.

Batteries, books,
belts, bongs.

You've done a lot but with very economical use of the words - I like this use of multiple words started with 'b' as it gives a sense of endless gifts - too many to list.

Cleverly done!

A lovely piece of childhood wonder and shared secrets. Books, belts and bongs work well together as does the owl that glows in the dark!
