We are moths
Flickering around one another-
There is no flame.
We are litter
Blown through empty streets.
We are baited breath,
The sound of the world
Turning.

I liked this, but wonder about the ending - what if the fluttering of the moths' wings was the force that turned the world? Mind you, this is far better than my paltry effort today.

Liked the contrast between 'flickering' and 'flame'. Sad poem to me. Sense of expectancy as you listen to the silence, of waiting for something, anything...'There is no flame' resonated strongly...miffle ;-)

I find it difficult to stop reading and re-reading this long enough to comment. I like it. Very much.

ooh, full of ..er, I don't exactly know what!
But this has a magic that grabs me and makes me read it over and over to tease out the meanings.
I especially love the first part, ...pointless, empty, comfortless existence?
And the 'Turning' on its own just resonates so deeply.

Dr M

succinct and emotive if it was my poem I would remove the capitals atthe beginning of each line but that is just me and a question of style or zapping word.

take care
