Of chocolate brown
Smooth and hot
Caramelising the
Craving curves
Coursing confidently
Over flesh
Of valley and peak.

Of ruby rich
Rippling red.
Cascading crimson swathes
Of silk
Billowing balm
Of eastern breeze

Of succulence
Abundance
Dripping delectability
Of tangerine dream
Of mango sweet

Of pulsating power
Synapse snapping surge
In darkest hour
Light bending purge

Of instrument fine
Deep and low
Sonorous and slow
Breathing warmth
Permeating heat
Plucking
Each
String
With oracular
Precision.

Much red and more red...Very much like the precision of 'synapse snapping surge'. 'Plucking each string with oracular precision' - reminded me of the imagery of the lover plucking his guitar (like his lover) in the balmy Andalusian night in the play 'La Casa de Bernalda Alba'. Luxuriant, exotic poem which I think may belong in the 'Erotic' fold (?) - miffle :-)

I really like the style of this poem and your use of alliteration. Something that I very much aspire to when writing poetry. What a good way of describing a voice

Miffle, thanks, like the guitar-plucking lover image and, yes, perhaps this should have been posted under 'erotic'.

Must check out the play.

Em, glad you liked it. Was slightly concerned the alliteration was overdone. Thanks for your reassurance.

Al, yup, a voice that never fails to move.

A love of language, communication and sound come through. Voices, caressing the curve of the letter 'C', riding the rollercoaster of 'W' and slaloming around the letter 'S'. A rich, honey-sweet testament to a voice.

Alliteration is one of my favourite figures of speech. A well constructed piece of poetry.
