Future History

searchlights burned
through the miners
clouds of hot vows
growled in blackness
on the battles pitch
five thousand props
shouldering a world,
brothers hold on
mothers hold on
sisters hold on
while kids scream,
a giant family fight
rolling towards
the buffed badges
of armoured police,
twenty years later
their blows are still
raining down on us,
they call this ancient
history when in fact
it is the future waiting
to happen back.
