I got to my feet and looked around to a sea of perplexed faces.
Some were speechless others wore an expression of incredulity and confusion.

"Did that really happen?" A voice hollered from the back of the auditorium.
My own thoughts were drowned out by the loud cacophony of voices all speaking at the same time.

I kicked through the detritus of the evening which littered the floor; torn rosettes, discarded placards and home-made signs and exited the building.

The night was eerily quiet as I headed along 42nd Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenue and made my way to Times Square.

Although the middle of the night it was rare to witness Time Square so quiet even with a throng of people out in the streets; from tourists to the costumed characters decked out in Sesame Street costumes and Simpson outfits.

"We all could do with a drink what do think?"
"Hell yeah. I think we just trolled the world." I relied to my new-found friend.

She was wearing nothing but bikini bottoms, thigh-high stockings, cork wedge heels, a red, white and blue feathered headdress and a thin layer of body paint, with the design of Stars and Stripes on each breast, which didn’t leave much to the imagination and the letters N and Y on each of her buttocks.

The incongruity of her exotic attire next to me in my suit summed up the surreal feel of the night.

She clasped my hand and gestured to one of the giant screens showing Fox News and an orange complexioned man grinning with the rolling news headlines
underneath: Donald Trump the next President of the United States…….

Hi Kenny, I see you've been a member of the site for some time, good to have you back :) Think I've entered the brilliant flash competition before, got a couple of longlisted pieces, so i hope you do well. :)

I like the moment captured here, the sharp intake of breath, the casual surrealism of it all. Like the world trying to settle after a shock (it's still trying, i think).

white and blue feathered headdress and a thin layer of body paint with the design of Stars and Stripes on each breast which didn’t leave much to the imagination and the letters N and Y on each of her buttocks.

Great moment here, and a really sharp visual, another comma might help it flow a little though.

Hi Bazz thanks for reading and commenting. Added another comma as you're right it does help it flow.
