Are we in love?
could it be forever?
should we take a chance
just a chance in time.

Are we in love?
i feel a glow in the gut
i try to wipe you out
fail miserably.

Are we in love?
i cry and shout
crying out
i want to know.

Are we in love?
shall we make it go
just give me a sign
then i will know.

Are we in love?
or is it just a sham
if we are not
then i will go.

are we in love?
No.
I cry a while
at least i know.

We are not in love.

The eternal question - sorry the answer was 'no'. I like the way you build up to the disappointment at the end Alice. The beginning is so optimistic and yet fearful at the same time.

Things come full circle. I don't find this piece sad, but would like to see the first stanza repeated at the end. A personal preference of course.

A truth hard to swallow Alice especially when you feel very strongly for someone... Someone once said to me that if you had to ask then the answer was probably no (?)...miffle ;-)

it's me?

How do I know
it's her?

How do we know
if it's forever?

We don't -
but it's worth
taking a chance


I agree that sometimes things come full circle, albeit with a different person, and I also agree that if you have to ask, the answer is definitely no.

For me, the last five lines are the most powerful and have an atmosphere of someone who is philosophical, capable of rolling with life's punches. A certain strength of character.
