Dust to dust

I committed
an act
of forgetting
on you,

whoever
you are,
whatever
you want,
I put dust
on you,

I do not
recognise
your smile,
do not quite
understand
the welcome
you find,

I drink my
Alzheimers
feed on my
Amnesia,

I snuff out
sand candles,
put sun dials
in moon shade,
yet in spite
of all my
black magic,

I cannot unburn
diaries or unlearn
lies or unsay word
bubbles long burst
by the tack of time.

Wow, this is very moving. Really good imagery: I snuff out
sand candles,
put sun dials
in moon shade,
was a really striking visual, and sounds great.

Lots in this poem that I really admire. Well done.

Great. We all try to commit the act of forgetting.
Never happens.Loved the forth stanza.Drink alzheimers and amnesia. Is the last line tack of time? or lack of time? Enjoyed it. xxxx Alice

"I cannot unburn
diaries or unlearn
lies " Very potent words, if only we could.

John - beautiful words from the heart. 'unsay word bubbles long burst' struck me as particularly poignant.

A tender, moving poem - living from a different perspective that someone cannot help; I hear their frustration, struggle and their eloquence...miffle ;-)
