Bombarded by platitudes
of supposed encouragement.
Not helping, you know!
Sign my release papers -
at least give me that,
a get-out clause.
If the tables were turned
I wouldn't pressure you so.

I liked this. Swaying amidst the winds of expectation, perched precariously atop your pedestal (ever noticed those banana republic generals, with so many medals and decorations that they're weighed down on one side?).
The format allows a wide interpretation...many scenes, sounds (clocks, questions, tick-tock, tick-tock, hurry up). The last two lines, the common disclaimer.
Nice one, write on.

Agree with the rest, your 'experimentation' works. Interesting subject matter. What really struck me though, was that maybe, it wasn't the expectations of others that apply the pressure. Afterall, they are providing "encouragment", albeit "supposed".
Just a thought.

Walrus - indeed, it's one's own pressure that weighs most heavily - BUT ( get-out clause ) others' encouragement just fans the flames. Glad you think it works as a piece.
