The energy is pure
contagion.
Adrenaline allure
works its magic on my brain.
Should my defences resist
or capitulate,
give-in to ego's hunger
yet again.

If I fall from the tightrope
who'll catch me?
If I'm caught
what will the trade-off be?

Walking on a tightrope is dicing with death.Do we take the chance like life or death. Look ahead and the future is there.Fall and someone is there.

Alice - thanks for your comments. Courage is desirable, but sometimes hard to find.

I was intrigued by this poem Bobo.

The first four lines crystalise wonderfully that high. I understand the resistance/capitulation debate (I would go for capitulation every time). But, how does ego fit into this? In my opinion feeling high is not synonymous with being ego-driven.

The last stanza works really well -
the penultimate question - originating from fear of there being noone there and the last question - the price to be paid if someone is. Love the tantalising paradox.

Thank you Walrus - glad you like the piece. It was actually 'inspired' by my career dilemma - the energy and adrenaline are those associated with the world of sales, and hence the mention of ego as it's very much an ego-driven environment.
