Angry guitar thrash reverberates,
sneering at the sweet goody-goody harmony
of hum-drum melody.
Daring extreme encounters,
its voice screeches in defiance
of all who crawl to conform.

The menacing tenacity of bass
hammers nails of revolution
through the closed eyes of the dumbly deaf.

I like this description
Of unconventional rhythm

It reminds me of those who broke through barriers; John Coltrane, Albert Ayler, Roland Kirk, etc

Immortal music.

Thanks Fearless - I was struck by just how gutsy rule-breaking can be. Don't just question, DEFY! Music is such a great example, though obviously its extrapolation impacts all areas of life.

Spike Milligan once wrote in his first novel 'Puckoon' that patience was a word invented by dull buggers who couldn't think quickly enough.

In that sense, one could consider rules to be an invention for those bereft of imagination.

Never retreat,
Never explain.
Get it done
And let them howl.

Don't know who wrote it (wouldn't be surprised if it was Spike himself, although I'm pretty sure it wasn't) but that's my motto when it comes to dogmatic 'rules'

Happy New Year Bobo and Fearless.

Dee - it was Benjamin Jowett (1817-1893)

Cheers Dee/Alice - glad you like the piece - I'm endeavouring to write stuff that's not downright depressing!

Thanks David - glad you liked it. Mental note to self: continue to write like a miserable cow!

God, this really captures the spirit of defiance so often conveyed through music. Fav lines:

'all who crawl to conform', and,

'hammers nails of revolution
through the closed eyes of the dumbly deaf.'

Superb!

Yes I have heard the album and this describes it very well. I'm sure the band would agree with it too! Great stuff!
