An adult's body
housing the lost spirit
of a child.
Alone -
you are bewildered
at the ever-changing landscape:
once safe,
now fearsome.
The frosty skies growl,
the ground quakes -
where is the shelter of yesteryear?
Now abandoned.
Cut adrift.
No map or compass to hand.
Your tears reflect the dark void
that settles at your throat,
choking,
as you decide to let go.
The next world will be kinder.
