I didn't miss the girl I first fell in love with.
She faded into reality, slowly becoming who she was
instead of who I wanted her to be.
I wasn't missing people who I'd outlived.
The uncomfortable silence of someone who will never listen to you again.
I didn't even miss the friend who I knew lived just a few minutes away.
From where I sat, alone, pretending that I actually liked the sugar I was pouring into my tea.
I could fool myself no longer that there was nothing missing.
