The old year drags, the decrepit hard stance
Boot it away as we demand the right
To start anew another round of chance
And swear to fate that we will keep the fight.

Moments away the birth of the new time,
The redemption of the failure of past
The promises that we will try this time
To make the best of what destinies cast.

Crucial seconds until the world over
Clocks one by one the new entrant acclaim
Celebrations to greet the fresh hour
That changes all and guarantees new fame.

The young era whispers tender secrets
That we may keep or that we may forget
Bitter to have forgotten the regrets
Of things not done that now, we may get.

Continuing with my epic reading marathon today!

I really really like this -

The young era whispers tender secrets
That we may keep or that we may forget
Bitter to have forgotten the regrets
Of things not done that now, we may get.

... but being rather thick here but, can you tell me what the last line means when you say "we may get"? I've read it through over and over and still don't really understand that bit, which is a pity because the rest of that is so beautiful.
