Pointless Striving

Sisyphusian striving
renders me frail.
Jaded,
so threadbare,
jaundice pallor
sickly pale.
My rolling rock,
much too heavy,
pushes back
'gainst my girth.
Mocking me,
cackling,
as I strain
against the earth.
Punishment
unsuited
to the nature
of my crime.
Humanity,
it seems,
can do no more
with its time.
renders me frail.
Jaded,
so threadbare,
jaundice pallor
sickly pale.
My rolling rock,
much too heavy,
pushes back
'gainst my girth.
Mocking me,
cackling,
as I strain
against the earth.
Punishment
unsuited
to the nature
of my crime.
Humanity,
it seems,
can do no more
with its time.
