You stood
alone under
the slightly early
Christmas Tree with gaudy lights
daring to give you confidence.

Something
rang a bell, yet
your staring eyes made
my mind decide to go home
quietly and have a cup of tea

A couple of typos, Joanie but this is a bit nightmare before Christmassy - I'm intrigued by that unease.

You definately capture your theme: unease with this one.

I like that the there is a note of recognition in it:
Something
rang a bell
which isn't explained. And that there is no attempt to place a logical explanation on this feeling, this instinct which a small detail can generate.
your staring eyes made
my mind decide to go home
quietly

Nicely understated, and as pithy as ever, well done.

This is quite haunting, Joanie. The sense of unease increases with every reading.
