Just as impressive as a journey to the South Pole with no support

Hi Joanie,
How amusing and how true! We are so ready to laud people who do 'spectacular' things, without recognising the 'everyday' and 'ordinary'.
We die every day for our children.
I loved 'eating carrots'.

I reallt liked this too, Joanie. You are reaaly good at being concise - at it incredibly effective, and the sentiment of this poem is so right!

Hi Joanie - one of the best of your multum in parvo poems. Not much to add to what has been said, except to mention the word 'impressive'. What if you had written 'Just as difficult'? Then the poem would have been a bit of a moan, but it isn't, it's affirmative.
James.

Thank you, James. I hadn't thought about 'impressive' but, yes, you're right, of course!!

This concise. syllabics format works really well.
The format reflects the mother's need "to keep it short". It reminds me of my own Mom who looked after a household and did half the work on the family farm as well.
