We wait. Its dark, there’s frost on the bonnet, the windows are steamed up. Our hearts are beating. We just sit, in silence. Our breath in front of us. We see our prey. We sit up. It pulls in slowly. Blood is pushed round our bodies with more pace now. It’s about to happen. They’ve paid. We’ve only got seconds to make this. We move. Wheel spin, screech. Puddles splash the doors and windows. We get closer. We brake hard, shunting forwards in our seats. Wind down the window. Take the package. We head for home. We laugh, we smell it. It’s been worth it. It’ll taste much better now.
