Anticipation of
red turning shiny
black taunts
my taste buds
until
suddenly
they are ready.
Fingers stained
burgundy blood-red,
scratched and stinging,
pluck and
pick,
discard
and taste
until
a brimming bowl of
nature's bounty
sits in splendour
on my
compost heap
red turning shiny
black taunts
my taste buds
until
suddenly
they are ready.
Fingers stained
burgundy blood-red,
scratched and stinging,
pluck and
pick,
discard
and taste
until
a brimming bowl of
nature's bounty
sits in splendour
on my
compost heap
