Clearly I am deaf.
Or is it cognitive dissonance?
A covert conspiracy
To deprive me
Of that elusive
Absent part of me
Because,
Hand on heart
I can’t hear it
The alleged
Relentless tick.

They tell me,
With tender concern
Not to worry
There’s someone
Out there
Somewhere
For you.

But I say
Chill,
It’s OK
My happiness
Is not dependant
Upon another.

And within
The the many
Sentimental songs
I hear,
The ‘you’
Thank god,
Is narcissistically
For no-one else
But me.

It's a strong, honest message, that many would concur with, if they had the voice, the pen, that you have demonstrated here. Write on.

Thanks Fearless. Yes, it is strong and honest.... many nights spent with cherished girlfriends... yearning unnecessarily.
