Clearly I am deaf.
Or is it cognitive dissonance?
A covert conspiracy
To deprive me
Of that elusive
Absent part of me
Because,
Hand on heart
I can’t hear it
The alleged
Relentless tick.
They tell me,
With tender concern
Not to worry
There’s someone
Out there
Somewhere
For you.
But I say
Chill,
It’s OK
My happiness
Is not dependant
Upon another.
And within
The the many
Sentimental songs
I hear,
The ‘you’
Thank god,
Is narcissistically
For no-one else
But me.
