No.
Not again.
Please no.
Sweep me not
Into the whirlpool.
Deliver me
From its insidious pull
Abandon me to me
Please, let me be.

How can one learn
To pretend
To spurn
The subconscious
Burning yearning?

And, as I am transported
Upon the enchanting breeze,
At its sacred altar
I sink to my knees.

And,
However dismissive
My nonchalant wave
I have to confess
I am forever
Love’s slave.

Better to be love's slave than the alternative.
A bittersweet plea - more sweet than bitter perhaps? I know not.
Fearless

Last line of 3rd stanza has an errant 'I'.

I forgot to say this: it's a great poem. You continue to astound with your lyrics, so please, write on.

You should never be a slave to love.Accept what is offered and savour with delight. Wonder what could be and what should be.xxalice

Fearless, thanks. Always more sweet. Extraneous 'i' removed. Ta.

Alice, the 'slave' was simply my rather clumsy expression of the fact that if one chooses not to love, one chooses not live. I accept, savour and indeed delight. I never wonder about what could be or should be. I simply accept what is now.
