Just when I thought I was getting it together
I go and lose it again.
Just when I thought the control I had gained
I go and lose it again.
Just when I thought I knew what I thought
I lose the thought again.
Just when I thought there is gain with no pain,
when I thought life was just a game,
I thought wrong again.

Blimey, ain't that true! It's a slippery b*****. I recommend a heavy duty lasooe combined with industrial strength glue.

The inevitability of this and the tired way you repeat the lines, works well. Am I reading 'Just when I thought the control I had gained' this line wrong? I was wondering if it should be 'Just when I thought I had gained control.' ? Love, Maria.

Excellent pene!! I love the line which includes "...the control I had gained"...... as the slight word reversal suggests a synergy with the condition which is the essence of the poem's subject.
