Lack of Control

As a young boy I was never allowed to touch it: they threatened me with paralysis and madness, blindness and a scarcity of intelligence.

And when I reached adolescence - with the privacy of my own room - the cry was still the same. ‘Stop playing with it!’ the voices would advise me.

If the floorboards outside on the landing were to creak, or the door handle was to shift from its position of rest, I would pull the covers over me and hope that whoever came in would not notice the bulge under the polyester sheets.

And now, I must admit, those feelings of guilt that engulf me every time I touch the thing have followed me through into adulthood and marriage.

Whenever my wife discovers me, a hand gripped around my old friend, a distant expression on my face, she tells me, ‘Harry, put down the TV remote!’

Ha ha John, very funny! Think I remember a story of Bill's about the bulge under the sheet that also turned out not to be the expected thing?
I love

Mmmm. Maybe a bit of a problem there? Plastic surgery, anyone?

Thanks for reading. Really pleased you liked it.

Frances,

Hi

Damn, my secret is out. You can often find me on dark evenings trawling through Bill's used bits - if you see what I mean.

Glad you liked it, that means a lot.

All the best

Jumbo-song,
with the privacy of my own room

should that be within the privacy?

Jumbo at 23:28 on 05 February 2008  Report this post
Possibly, oonah-song

Although he thought that jumbo-song was trying for was not so much 'inside' the room, but that with adolescence the MC-song had his own room - and with it, the privacy that it provides.

Hence 'with the privacy of MC-song own room'.

Hope this makes sense, oonah-song. (Probably not!)

Cheers

[Funny how this makes everything sound oriental. You don't have to change very much in a language to alter its whole feel!]

True Jumbo-song. And why would my stories tend towards the oriental - because they do you know - several of them including the Genie series. Prosp would say it is Karma.

Anyhow, yes that does make sence but it is ambiguous. You had to shorten it to encompass the word count.

I like this Jumbo-song. It seems very... respectful.

Oh, Jumbs, you slay me! I am actually weeping here, tears of laughter but real tears. That title - inspired! Absolutely hilarious. Loved it.

Haha. Ah, man. This had me laughing from the first line onwards. I am not sure the TV remote does justice though, and I'd probably forget the idea of twisting the ending and to stick with straight up perversion. It works, I think. =)

Naughty man, Jumbs, leading us innocents along so! And how bulgy is YOUR remote... Mine is quite discreet.

Hi john,

Very funny - had me going - so it did.

But just knew there was a twist coming.

I thought the 'polyester sheet' bit was the most disgusting thing I've read in ages.

All the best
Caroline.

Thanks for reading, really pleased it made you laugh.
